An Introduction:

The TAHA is Tanzania’s premier private sector member-based organization dedicated to the development and promotion of horticulture (flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, and horticultural seeds). The purpose of TAHA is to improve the growth and competitiveness of the country’s horticultural industry in order to generate social and economic benefits. TAHA is a single vocal platform for Tanzanian horticulture, representing all levels of farmers, processors, exporters, and service providers in Tanzania’s horticultural industry.

The TAHA built the TAHA Research and Information Centre (TARIC), an information platform for Tanzania’s horticultural industry. The TARIC Manager is responsible for conducting horticultural research, collecting, processing, packaging, and disseminating horticultural data and information, as well as coordinating research partners in horticulture.

 

Efficiently operationalize TARIC, TAHA aims to appoint a TARIC Manager to organize and carry out TAHA research and information operations.

 

 

Overview of the Position:

The TARIC Manager will be in charge of coordinating and carrying out research and information efforts to benefit Tanzania’s horticultural sector. This position will entail working with stakeholders, managing research relationships, implementing the digital platform, and heading a dedicated staff.

 

 

The key responsibilities:

To coordinate horticultural research, as well as the development and transmission of information.

  • To identify and address important research concerns in the horticulture sector.
  • To establish and implement strategic research relationships in the horticultural sector.
  • To coordinate the deployment of a research partnership platform in horticulture.
  • To address particular data and information requirements from stakeholders.
  • To facilitate the collection, analysis, packaging, and dissemination of study findings.

 

The Partnership management and resource mobilization.

  • To engage stakeholders such as investors, academia, government agencies, and development partners to build collaborative relationships.
  • Determine and mobilize financial, technical, and human resources to support and facilitate the implementation of TARIC initiatives.
  • Create strategic alliances to increase the capacity and reach of TARIC’s projects.

 

The operationalization of TARIC Digital Platform.

  • To provide strategic leadership and direction on the design, functionality, and user experience of TARIC’s digital platforms to ensure that they fulfill stakeholder expectations.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive strategy for TARIC that is consistent with TAHA’s overarching aims (goals).

 

 

The Team management.

  • To assemble and lead a team of specialists with the necessary skills and competence to ensure the successful implementation of TARIC.
  • Encourage a pleasant and collaborative work atmosphere among team members by providing advice, support, and chances for professional development.

 

 

THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education.

  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, agricultural economics, business administration, or a similar discipline.
  • A postgraduate degree will be regarded an added advantage.

 

Experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in research and information management, ideally in the agricultural or horticulture sectors.
  • A proven track record in managing research projects and relationships.
  • Knowledge/ experience with resource mobilization and stakeholder engagement.

 

Competencies.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in project management and team leadership.
  • Experience with digital platforms and data management technologies.
  • Passion for horticulture and a desire to improve the industry in Tanzania.
