The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange PLC (DSE) was founded in 1996 as a corporation limited by guarantee with no share capital. It became a public corporation with restricted shares in June 2015, and it self-listed in July 2016.
The DSE’s primary mandate includes providing a platform for trading listed securities and assisting businesses in generating capital through the issue of shares and bonds.
To boost our operations and increase efficiency, we are looking for a proactive, motivated, and high-integrity professional with good technical skills to join our team as a Market Operations Officer. The Job Purpose:
Be responsible for monitoring the day-to-day activities of trading and market operations, ensuring that trades are performed, settled, and processed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
The Required Academic Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies:
- A degree in economics, accounting, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A Securities Markets Certification Program approved by the Regulator is an extra benefit.
- The Securities Investment & Trading (SIT) Certification is an added benefit.
- The Risk Management Certification is an added benefit.
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in a respected organization.
- The experience in the following areas is preferred: econometrics, statistical analysis, market performance monitoring, stock exchange business, and regulatory and policy analysis.
- A strong understanding of stock exchange systems and processes, economic principles, and corporate accounting.
- To understanding the dynamics of regional and global stock exchanges.
- A strong organizational abilities, including the ability to operate independently and productively in a team setting.
- Capability to manage internal and external interactions with stakeholders on regular and operational difficulties.
- Capability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage time effectively, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- The professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all parts of the job.
- The excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- An advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Main responsibilities:
- The primary point of contact for addressing and escalating market incidents in real time.
- To monitor market participants’ compliance with trading regulations, ongoing disclosure duties, and procedures.
- To engage and serve a variety of stakeholders, including brokers, custodians, system suppliers, compliance officers, auditors, and regulators.
- Real-time market monitoring is achieved by precisely coding notifications within specified timeframes and trading rules.
- To manage stakeholder inquiries, ensuring compliance with trade rules, policies, and laws.
- To maintain operational documentation, conduct statistical analyses, and organize data for reporting to management, regulators, and internal/external auditors.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address ongoing disclosure challenges.
- To identify and implement process improvements to decrease operational risk, improve customer experience, and drive technological progress.
- To identify, support, and engage in knowledge management and subject matter expertise development.
- To investigate, reconcile, and resolve confirmation mismatches.
- To participate in the User Acceptance Test (UAT) system to evaluate new applications.
- Carry out/ perform any other duties as given by the supervisor.
