Job Title: Mining Plant Manager

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Plant Manager to lead and oversee our company’s mining, exploration, and gold processing activities. This position requires a professional with a combination of technical expertise, business insight, and great leadership abilities. The ideal applicant will improve operational efficiency, pursue mining prospects, and maintain strong stakeholder connections to ensure the company’s growth and sustainability.

The Responsibilities:

  • Operations Oversight: Ensure that the mining plant runs well on a daily basis, including monitoring extraction processes, equipment, and production targets. This includes managing workflow, staff, and ensuring plant efficiency.

 

  • Staff Supervision and Development: Manage and lead plant people, including hiring, training, and developing them.

 

  • Budget and Resource Management: Oversee and manage the plant’s budget, which includes controlling costs, managing resources, and assuring the efficient use of raw materials, energy, and other inputs.

 

  • Monitoring and reporting on production data, performance measures, and overall output should be done on a regular basis to ensure that targets are reached. Create detailed reports for upper management on plant performance, challenges, and progress.

 

  • Crisis and Risk Management, Safety, and Compliance: Identify potential hazards, both operational and environmental, and create backup strategies.

 

  • Acquisition (Procurement) and Inventory Management: Manage the acquisition of raw materials, equipment, and spare parts. Maintain proper inventory levels and use cost-effective purchasing practices.

 

  • Maintenance and Equipment Management: Manage the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and plant infrastructure to reduce downtime and maintain high productivity levels.

 

A mining professional with the following qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in mining and exploration or gold processing, including at least 5 years in a senior position.
  • To identify and evaluate new mining prospects, delivering actionable insights to management.
  • Strong understanding of gold processing procedures and equipment.
  • To demonstrate ability to manage budgets and select cost-effective alternatives.
  • PR responsibilities require strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • The excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

 

 

The preferred attributes:

  • Work experience in Tanzania or a similar region.
  • Experience with local regulatory systems and community dynamics.
  • A fluency in Swahili is an added benefit.
