The SimbaNET (T) Limited is a Licensed Public Data Operator with National and International Application Licences.

SimbaNET Tanzania Limited, part of the Wananchi Group, is a significant provider of Internet and data solutions in East Africa.

We are looking for a procurement and logistics officer to manage all procurement and logistics activities in Tanzania (Wananchi Group Entities). He or she will report to the Country Finance Manager, with a dotted line to the Wananchi Group’s Procurement and Logistics HOD.

 

 

PURPOSE OF A JOB:

  • Responsible for procurement functions (assets, stock, replacement parts, and other inventory).
  • Responsible for the cost-effective purchasing of goods and services in accordance with the group’s policies and governance.

 

 

The Job Responsibilities:

  • Complete the procurement cycle from requisition to final delivery.
  • Receive requisitions, obtain quotes from vendors, and negotiate to secure the best rates.
  • Choose the finest supplier who provides the firm with the best value for money and lead times while maintaining product quality in accordance with the established standards and expectations.
  • Ensure that the inventory and stock levels do not fall below the economic order quantity.
  • Adherence to importing procedures: Ensure products are cleared on schedule, act as custodian for these commodities, and cost all inventory using the company’s standard software (Sage Pastel).
  • Maintain solid relationships with suppliers by demonstrating outstanding communication skills when engaging them and internal stakeholders, such as user departments and management.
  • Oversee both domestic and foreign vendors.
  • Manage the lease, rent, and way leave agreements for each and every point-of-presence (POP) in Dar es Salaam and the upcountry.
  • Maintain timely and efficient LPO processing by promptly providing user departments and other important stakeholders with input on the approval process.
  • Lead the finance department’s procurement and logistics division.

 

THE SKILLS, INFORMATION (KNOWLEDGES), AND ABILITIES:

  • Three or more years of relevant experience, a track record of success as a procurement officer, and negotiating skills.

 

THE EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business management, as well as CPSP certification, are prerequisites for the post-graduate diploma in international trade.
