The Procurement Officer reports to the Head of Commercial Services and is in charge of ensuring that procurement duties are carried out in accordance with NCBA Bank Tanzania’s policies and procedures.
The Job Purpose Statement
The role assists the Head of Commercial Services in carrying out procurement functions that assure compliance with the bank’s policies and procedures, resulting in increased efficiency, cost savings, and stakeholder satisfaction.
The Key Accountabilities (duties and responsibilities)
The Procurement Officer’s tasks are organized into four primary viewpoints, each with unique outcomes and weightings:
Financial (20 percent)
- Achieve cost avoidance and savings targets for CAPEX and OPEX.
Internal Business Processes (45%).
- Vendor management.
- Sourcing and tendering processes.
- Procurement Planning and Execution.
- Risk management.
- Contract Management.
Customers (25%)
- Ensure customer satisfaction by adhering to TAT and SLA compliance.
- Procurement TATs
Learning and Growth (10%)
- Meeting learning hour targets
- Create and execute individual growth plans.
The Procurement Officer is authorized to make operational choices as directed by the line manager.
The function involves budgetary control responsibilities if necessary.

Ideal Job Specifications:
Academic
- A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field, ideally in procurement, supply chain management, materials management, property management, logistics, or business administration.
Professional
- A registered member of the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB) is preferred.
The Desired Work Experience:
It is preferable to have at least one year of experience as a buyer/contracting officer in a public or private entity, where you have purchased both services and materials.
