Employment prospects:

The Procurement Officer will oversee the procurement and logistical management for the Headquarters and Landscape Offices under the direction of the Senior Procurement Officer and Operations Manager. For WWF Tanzania, this position entails supporting the Senior Procurement Officer in carrying out, implementing, and overseeing all procurement-related tasks. The procurement officer will also record all communication pertaining to duty and tax exemption certifications and logistically support fleet management. All TCO projects will benefit from the efficient application of WWF regulations and procurement standards thanks to coordination with the Field Office.

 

 

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of requests for quotations, bid initiations, and proposals, guaranteeing prompt delivery via email or other means.
  • Maintain up-to-date procurement paperwork and manuals.
  • Examine requisitions for completeness and accuracy, follow up on any issues with the initiating department, and select vendors from a list of preferred suppliers.
  • Send (route), copy, and distribute quotes, bids, and proposals for evaluation.
  • For low-value items, conduct pricing research and seek quotes from local and international sources.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure that procurement processes, such as bid security, contract awards, and contract document distribution, are performed.
  • To ensure that the purchase request contains the correct information and specifies the correct materials.
  • Deliver purchased materials to the receiving office and take all necessary steps to conclude the procedure.
  • To receive authorized quotation analysis from the Operations Manager and Head of Finance, then create Purchase Orders.
  • To maintain and monitor procurement paperwork to ensure proper record-keeping and auditing.
  • To collaborate with the Senior Procurement Officer to develop and maintain a procurement strategy that ensures timely delivery of products and services.
  • To assist with the preparation of procurement-related reports, communications, and paperwork.
  • To assist with administrative tasks like visa and work permit processing in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
  • Carryout/ perform any additional duties assigned by superiors.

 

 

The Required Qualifications:

  • Obtain a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, procurement and logistics, accounting, or business administration.
  • Minimum of three years’ professional experience in procurement, supplies, and logistics, preferably with the government or non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • The previous experience working with international organizations on environmental and/or community issues.
  • The proven experience with supply chain management and logistics.
  • An excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • A proficient in computer applications.
