Part of a well-known development group, BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania began operations in Tanzania in 2006 and focuses on the following themes: agriculture, food security and livelihood, youth and women empowerment, and livelihood.

Concerning / About the Program:

Aiming to positively and quantifiably impact 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women as well as 9.5 million people across seven East and West African countries—Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Uganda—the Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with BRAC International (BI), launched its Project.

Job Title: Program Assistant – Social Empowerment and Program Assistant Livelihoods.

Job location: Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Pwani, Mbeya, Iringa, Songwe, Mwanza, Dodoma, Singida and Tabora.

 

To support the administration and operations of the AIM project, we need a capable individual. The ideal employees will be able to communicate clearly and succinctly and will be able to understand and process instructions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, a friendly disposition, effective communication skills, and the ability to move swiftly and accomplish goals rapidly are required.

MAIN DUTY OBLIGATIONS:

  • Oversee the start-up activities of the AIM program, such as participant and community mobilization, club setup and selection, mentor selection and onboarding, mapping, and creating connections for participants’ social empowerment.
  • In accordance with the program design, activity plan, and budget, oversee and lead the execution of social and economic empowerment initiatives in the designated clubs.
  • In the target communities, form and assist Youth Development Committees.
  • Make that the club-level program aims are met in accordance with the Implementation Guideline, and notify BM of any problems related to operations or management.
  • To obtain technical advice and knowledge, closely collaborate with the Technical Sector Specialists (TSS) and offer assistance to them as required.
  • As part of the social empowerment component, oversee and direct mentor activities and help them grow by giving them frequent training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Participate in branch-organized monthly coordination meetings, when you can give updates on club activities and draw attention to any problems that require the branch/area manager’s attention.
  • As needed, assist BM with all branch-level logistics and procurement as well as other duties.
  • For efficient daily operations, make sure cash flow is maintained by sending cash requisitions on time.
  • Plan and lead trainings on social empowerment for participants; assist in putting program participants in touch with more extensive linkage services.
  • Maintain frequent contact with participants to reduce attrition; create reports on attendance each month and on dropouts every two months.
  • Prepare financial, MIS, and other reports, and make sure they are submitted on schedule.
  • In order to accomplish the project’s objectives regarding the adoption of safeguards, make sure that team members are secure from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
  • Additionally, serve as a vital source of support, advice, and safeguarding knowledge to help create a safe working environment.
  • Team members should practice, support, and endorse the safeguarding policy’s concerns and make sure that the standards are followed in all actions.
  • In the event that an occurrence qualifies for reporting, follow the safeguarding reporting process and urge others to follow suit.

 

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve the programmer’s objectives for safeguarding implementation while ensuring the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
  • Serve as a vital resource for advice, assistance, and knowledge on safety measures for creating a secure work environment.
  • Team members should practice, support, and endorse the safeguarding policy’s concerns and make sure that the standards are followed in all actions.
  • In the event that an occurrence qualifies for reporting, follow the safeguarding reporting process and urge others to follow suit.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND CAPACITY:

  • Experience working with marginalized groups to undertake community development projects, including at least one year of experience in the international/national development sector.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and representational abilities Writing reports and staff capacity building abilities.
  • Competent with computers and mobile devices, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Strong sense of cooperation and teamwork, as well as a track record of fostering relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Personal attributes such as honesty, reliability, and commitment to BRAC’s objective.

 

SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline, including social work.
  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in pertinent disciplines at the very least.
