Work Description:

The Role:
In order to direct and facilitate the implementation of UNFPA’s Tanzania Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) program within national development frameworks and the UN Delivering as One framework, the Programme Analyst on Sexual and Reproductive Health analyzes and evaluates pertinent political, social, and economic trends. S/he will assist in achieving the SRHR program targets for the Country Office and support the implementation, coordination, and oversight of gender-responsive maternal health and midwifery initiatives.

You will answer to the Program Specialist Health Systems and operate under the Deputy Representative’s general direction.

How you can influence change:
The primary UN organization working to ensure that every pregnancy is desired, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is realized is UNFPA. The three transformative outcomes that are at the center of UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2022–2025) are ending gender-based violence and harmful practices; ending unmet family planning needs; and ending unnecessary maternal deaths.

We need morally upright employees who uphold the international norms and standards and who will bravely and resolutely defend fundamental human rights in a world when they are under threat.

UNFPA is looking for applicants who can inspire, transform, and produce high-impact, long-lasting results. We also need employees who are exemplary in their handling of the resources entrusted to them, transparent, and dedicated to producing program results of the highest caliber.

Work Objective:

You will assist in the efficient management of UNFPA’s activities in the fields of sexual and reproductive health, including midwifery and maternal health, while working in a sizable and intricate Country Office (CO) setting. You will support national development frameworks, collaborative programming initiatives, and project creation and evaluation by conducting substantive analysis and evaluating political, social, and economic trends.

You will oversee the proper application of systems and procedures, monitor the results of implementation, and design enhancements as needed. Support the identification of fresh requirements and innovative SRHR delivery methods, such as initiatives related to maternal health and midwifery.

You would be accountable for:

  • Contributing to the planning and execution of the national program and its component initiatives in coordination with government counterparts, non-governmental organizations, and other partners, in accordance with UNFPA program policies and procedures and government goals.
  • Ensuring the establishment and use of suitable oversight and monitoring procedures and systems.
  • Assessing and interpreting the political, social, and economic landscape as it relates to UNFPA’s operations and spotting chances for UNFPA support and involvement.
  • Examining strategy papers, national development plans, and policy papers pertaining to sexual and reproductive health; creating briefs and contributions for policy discussions, coordinating technical support, and developing development frameworks.
  • Evaluating and guaranteeing the integration of new policy changes and initiatives with respect to sexual and reproductive health, including the implementation of maternal health programs.
  • Forming cooperative connections with experts, government counterparts, implementing partners, and other UN agencies to enable the prompt and effective transmission of project inputs.
  • Helping to apply knowledge management techniques to document best practices and lessons learned in the area of sexual and reproductive health, sharing these with management for future planning, and meeting project staff training needs.
  • Ensuring the development of pertinent documents, such as project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and taking part in important meetings and public events, in order to support the CO’s advocacy and resource mobilization strategy.
  • Engage in and assist in the coordination of pertinent national and sub-national forums, such as committees and technical working groups, in order to further UNFPA’s mandate regarding midwifery, maternity and newborn health, and sexual and reproductive health.
  • Assist with the creation and administration of pertinent budgets, keeping an eye on spending to guarantee timely and accurate financial information reporting and program results delivery.
