Reporting to the Head of Program, the role supports Policy and Program actions that efficiently address the needs for food assistance while operating closely with the Country Office.

  • WFP Liaison Officer in the Zanzibar Office will be the current position.
  • Serve as a WFP representative and provide feedback to the Zanzibar Liaison Officers (ZO) team.
  • Through the UN Liaison Officer stationed in Zanzibar, communicate with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO).
  • Participate in all UN-related events including WFP-related ones that are arranged by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (RGoZ) through the appropriate line ministries on behalf of the WFP.
  • Introduce Zanzibar to the WFP Country Strategic Plan (CSP) initiatives.
  • Assist WFP with project management for designated and targeted programs in Zanzibar.
  • In order to guarantee successful cooperation, communicate with government colleagues, NGOs, CSOs, and the media. Keep an eye on ongoing WFP projects.
  • Adhere to data collection and monitoring protocols, guaranteeing that strict quality standards are upheld for WFP operations.
  • Participate in every UN event in which the WFP is invited.
  • Assist in the development of WFP programs and activities that have high quality and timely reporting so that stakeholders may make educated decisions and receive consistent information.
  • Encourage the discovery, creation, and administration of possible alliances for cooperative working with RGoZ, NGOs, and CSOs that will result in enhanced food and nutrition aid and blue economy intervention packages.
  • Encourage the development of government employees’ and NGOs’ capacity to prepare for and address the requirements for food and nutrition aid, disaster preparedness, and response capabilities.
  • As needed, carry out additional tasks.

 

Education:

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, social sciences, agriculture, economics, nutrition/health, international affairs, or other subjects connected to international development assistance. OR
  • A first degree plus extra years of relevant work experience, education, or training.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of six to eight years’ experience in a related role.
  • Possesses expertise putting technical programs into action (i.e. Nutrition, Agriculture etc.)
  • Has contributed to the design of operations and carried out programs.
  • Has contributed to policy deliberations and decisions.
