Context:
Unifying women and young entrepreneurs throughout Tanzania, the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) – www.twcc-tz.org – is an important organization. TWCC was founded in December 2005 and functions as the highest level and umbrella organization for business women associations, companies, cooperatives, groups, and sole owners in many sectors. With more than 15,000 members as of right now, TWCC serves more than a million women from all walks of life through its 27 regional chapters across Tanzania’s main island and Zanzibar, 14 women’s sectoral associations, and 11 platforms that support women involved in cross-border trade.
In order to support company formalization and growth, TWCC’s main goal is to unite women and young entrepreneurs, especially those operating in the unofficial sector. By providing women with the tools and resources they need to succeed, TWCC works to reduce poverty among women through active capacity-building initiatives and mentorship programs. In addition, TWCC works collaboratively with organizations in the public and commercial sectors to promote laws that support the growth of women-owned businesses.
Summary of Work:
At the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), the Project Coordinator is essential to the management and advancement of initiatives that increase the opportunities available to women entrepreneurs, especially in the context of regional integration. Project activities must be coordinated, resources must be managed, communication must be facilitated, and projects must be in line with TWCC’s and the organization’s goals.
Obligations and liabilities:
- Supervise the project’s execution to make sure it adheres to TWCC’s aims and objectives.
- Track project development and make necessary plan adjustments to meet desired outcomes.
- To guarantee a successful completion, schedules, deliverables, and project activities should all be coordinated.
- Use resources wisely to maximize results and support project activities.
- Observe how resources are being used and make adjustments as needed to maximize effectiveness.
- Arrange meetings with stakeholders and help the project team, TWCC leadership, and outside partners communicate with each other.
- Act as a point of contact for communications and questions pertaining to the project.
- Manage project documentation in compliance with TWCC policies and processes, including plans, budgets, timelines, and scope statements.
- Prepare regular reports for TWCC management and stakeholders, keeping track of project progress and milestones.
- Examine project results and pinpoint areas that could use modification or enhancement.
- To improve the effect and sustainability of the project, cultivate collaborations with external stakeholders such as government agencies, regional integration authorities, and other organizations.
- Make sure that the project’s activities are planned to empower and assist female entrepreneurs, especially when it comes to taking advantage of chances for regional integration.
- In regional integration processes, support laws and programs that advance women’s economic empowerment and gender equality.
- Creating a quarterly status report and revising the project’s work plan and monitoring strategy.
Professional and academic credentials:
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as economics, international commerce or development, business administration, project management, or gender studies.
- Professional certifications in M&E and project management will be beneficial.
Experience at Work:
- Three years or more of project or program management experience required.
Technical Proficiency and Behavioral Capabilities:
- A thorough comprehension of the Project Management Cycle (PCM) from beginning to end.
- Demonstrable project management or coordinating experience, ideally with an emphasis on economic development or women’s empowerment.
- Strong communication and organizing abilities.
- Capacity to collaborate well with a variety of partners, including development organizations, government organizations, and female entrepreneurs.
- Understanding of the effects of regional integration processes on female entrepreneurs.
- Dedication to the TWCC’s aim of advancing women’s empowerment in business and economic development as well as gender equality.
