About the WAJAMAMA Foundation:

The WAJAMAMA Foundation (soon to be renamed WAJAMAMA Community Health) is a devoted non-governmental organization working to improve maternal and child health outcomes in Zanzibar. WAJAMAMA aims to overcome healthcare disparities through creative, long-term healthcare solutions and community empowerment, with an emphasis on accessibility.

 

 

Overview of the job:

We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Project Manager to oversee our flagship Group Care Program. This position necessitates a distinct combination of clinical experience and program management skills in order to successfully oversee the research, development, and scaling of integrated healthcare services centered on complete maternal care within the first 1000 days after conception.

 

The key responsibilities:

  • To lead the conception, implementation, and refining of the Group Care Program, which aims to change maternity and child healthcare.
  • To oversee a multidisciplinary team of medical experts, researchers, and community health workers.
  • To manage the program budget strategically to ensure that resources are allocated optimally and that it is sustainable.
  • Conduct comprehensive monitoring and assessment of program outcomes in relation to established objectives and international health standards.
  • To develop partnerships with community leaders, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure program integration and success.
  • Encourage the use of data-driven methods to inform evidence-based changes and expansions.
  • To prepare detailed reports and presentations for WAJAMAMA executives, funders, and policymakers.
  • Lead capacity-building measures to ensure long-term program effectiveness and community empowerment.
  • To ensure compliance with national and international health legislation, as well as ethical norms for mother and child health.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

  • A medical degree (MD) or a degree in nursing and midwifery is required.
  • A Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in mother and child health, epidemiology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of experience administering healthcare programs is required, with a premium for knowledge of maternal and child health.
  • A proven track record in clinical leadership and program management.
  • A solid/ strong analytical skills and experience with healthcare statistics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with the ability to effectively articulate complex health topics to a wide range of audiences.
  • Adaptable and imaginative mind who can negotiate challenging situations.
  • A fluency in English is necessary, and knowledge in Swahili or other languages is advantageous.
