The Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s largest gold producer, having a single operation in the Geita region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, a global gold miner based in Denver. AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) has activities in over ten countries spanning four continents. Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) is located in Northwestern Tanzania’s Lake Victoria Gold Fields, approximately 120 kilometers from Mwanza City and 20 kilometers southeast of Lake Victoria’s nearest point. The company’s main headquarters and operations are located in Geita, which is only 5 kilometers west of the fast-growing town, and there is a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

We are looking for an outstanding creative candidate who can fully support the functions of the PR and Communications Unit in implementing the Company’s communications strategy and work plan to ensure that employees and external stakeholders are well informed, involved, and enthusiastic about Geita Gold Mining Limited and its initiatives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, mass communication, marketing, or international relations.

JOB EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years of experience in communications and public relations, preferably in the extractive industries.

 

 

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help with the onsite implementation of the company’s public relations and communication strategy, including delivering on existing channels and building relevant new ones.
  • Support in communicating our key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to external stakeholders.
  • Support in improving internal communications at the Geita Gold Mine location.
  • Assist the Head of PR and Communications in timely delivery of strategically planned initiatives, such as consistent ahead planning and regular project plans for high-profile corporate priorities.
  • Assist in translating documents from Kiswahili to English and vice versa.
  • Supporting the implementation of events to ensure they run well and meet the agreed-upon end goals.
  • Assist in carrying out any other duties assigned by departmental superiors.

 

 

THE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capable of taking stunning photographs and videos.
  • Advanced graphic design talents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
