The Job Summary:
Serve as the key contact for all media stakeholder engagements and supervise the implementation of external communication protocols, processes, and procedures. Create public relations and media engagement strategy for key stakeholders, and support onsite personnel and contractors with communication plans. Collaborate with the Marketing and Branding team to improve the company’s media presence while maintaining the intended corporate image and brand through effective media profiling.
The key duties and responsibilities:
- Create/ prepare all media communications content, including digital and social media, for Dangote Cement in Tanzania.
- Maintain effective relationships with media stakeholders, including editors, columnists, reporters, presenters, and bloggers.
- Proactively engage the media (onsite and online) to establish a positive image for DCP Tanzania and increase brand awareness.
- To draft and edit public relations materials such as press releases, speeches, FAQs, briefing notes, corporate powerpoint, and corporate advertorials.
- Keep working relationships with media outlets and important stakeholders while bringing inconsistencies and errors to the attention of writers and editors on a timely basis.
- Establish and maintain solid relationships with the key regulatory and supervisory agencies in Tanzania.
- To provide direction and solicit feedback from appropriate stakeholders.
- To work with management to ensure that the communications needs of the Dangote Cement Plant in Tanzania are satisfied.
- Encourage tighter collaboration between the media, stakeholder publics, and the company.
- To prepare and transmit news highlights to the entire DCP Tanzania workforce.
- To contribute articles to the Dangote Group newsletter.
- Distribute the necessary information to all DCP Tanzania staff.
- The market research / intelligence.
- To track media reports that are relevant to the organization and bring them to the attention of management.
Job Requirements:

The Education and Professional Experience:
- A BSc in mass communication, English, public relations, or a similar field.
- A postgraduate degree or MBA is advantageous.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in journalism and public/media relations.
- Numerous relationships in the Tanzanian media sector.
- The extensive contacts within regulatory authorities and professional organizations.
