The Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa is currently seeking a future PURCHASING MANAGER.
Main Mission:
The Économe manages the hotel or restaurant’s inventories, acquisitions, and resources. They optimize property operations by controlling expenses, reducing waste, and maintaining optimal stock levels across departments.
The key responsibilities:
A. Inventory & Stock Management:
- To oversee the supply chain, which includes food, beverages, housekeeping items, and equipment.
- To conduct regular stock checks to ensure that inventory levels are correct and no shortages develop.
- To maintain correct storage conditions and use all items according to their expiration dates.
B. Purchase and Supplier Coordination:
- To coordinate purchasing efforts and negotiate with suppliers to ensure that the hotel/restaurant receives competitive rates and favorable terms.
- To keep stock levels stable and avoid overstocking, ensure that all orders are placed on time.
- To manage supplier relationships and performance to maintain constant supply chain efficiency.
C. Cost Control:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of waste-reduction techniques and inventory cost reductions.
- Collaborate with the finance department to ensure that purchases are within budget and cost control criteria.
- To monitor stock utilization across departments (kitchen, housekeeping, etc.) to ensure that all departments stay within budget.
D. Reports and Documentation:
- Create and keep precise records of all inventory transactions.
- To provide the management team with regular updates on stock levels, consumption, and order demands.
- Maintain accurate documentation and organization of all inventory-related activities.
E. Waste management:
- To monitor and analyze waste in all areas of operation, including food waste, cleaning supplies, and equipment.
- To implement waste-reducing and efficiency-enhancing measures, such as stock rotation and product shelf life management.
The Compliance & Hygiene:
- To ensure that all inventory processes follow health and safety laws.
- To maintain appropriate hygiene and safety standards in storage spaces.
The Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Degree or diploma in hospitality management, business administration, or a similar subject.
- Experience: 4-5 years of inventory management, buying, or a related function in the hospitality business.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in inventory management software, Microsoft Office, and other applicable applications.
- The Soft talents include strong organization, attention to detail, effective communication, and collaboration across divisions to achieve goals.
- The International experience (especially in East Africa) is beneficial.
