THE NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Credit Officer (Credit Administration) contributes to TADB’s mandate by assuring the integrity and compliance of all credit documents and processes. This person reports to the Credit Administration Manager and is responsible for authenticating collateral, monitoring loan performance, and providing timely reports to support credit decisions and risk management.
The officer is responsible for maintaining correct credit records, facilitating regulatory reporting, and ensuring that the Bank’s loan portfolio is in line with its development finance objectives.

 

THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Validate all collateral documents, including bonds and securities, stocks and shares, guarantees, and mortgage documents.
  • Ensure clients are charged and billed on the due dates mentioned in the Credit Instruction Memo or as customary.
  • Follow up on the loan installment or payback schedule.
  • To swiftly alert the appropriate departmental officers of any defaults or other anomalies.
  • To create/ prepare monthly reports on all credit facility limits that expire over the next three months.
  • To submit monthly reports to the Credit Committee regarding inadequate or absent documentation for already booked transactions.
  • To start Bank of Tanzania and other periodic reports.
  • To commence monthly reports to the Credit Committee on all accounts assessed worse than ‘good’, including comprehensive month-end outstanding.
  • To keep the collateral data up to date in the system.
  • Loan repayment accounts are reconciled to ensure that all credit records are accurate and that inconsistencies are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • To monitor disbursed funds to ensure proper utilization in accordance with loan agreements.
  • To do any additional duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

 

Job Qualifications, Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Economics, Business Administration, Banking, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Economics, Commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • To demonstrate ability to resolve credit-related concerns, such as payment irregularities, delinquent tracking, and account reconciliations.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in credit administration at a financial institution.
  • A strong analytical ability to comprehend complicated financial data, find patterns, and assist in strategic decision-making.
  • The sound judgment in assessing creditworthiness, reviewing loan applications, and calculating acceptable credit limits based on financial information.
  • The exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to handle various tasks, fulfill tight deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Pays close attention to detail and correctness, especially when maintaining financial records, performing data entry, and conducting credit analysis.
