About HAKIRASILIMALI:
The HakiRasilimali (HR) is a forum for Tanzanian-registered civil society organizations (CSOs) seeking to improve transparency and accountability in the extractive industry. HakiRasilimali is also Tanzania’s chapter of the worldwide civil society alliance Publish What You Pay (PWYP), which advocates for an open and responsible extractive sector.
THE POSITION SUMMARY:
The HakiRasilimali is looking for an intern to assist the Research and Policy Analysis Department. Ideal candidates will be passionate about the extractive industry and natural resources, with strong research and statistical skills, writing and vocal communication skills, and a demonstrated interest in research, policy analysis, advocacy, and social justice.
The ideal applicant should be able to work independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and have experience with research tools and databases.
The Principal Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations:
The intern will be responsible for the following: –
- Support in identifying prospective challenges that could influence Tanzania’s extractive policy.
- Investigating (researching) these concerns and identifying relevant areas of concern and entry points for advocacy.
- To assist in the development of concepts, research methodologies and themes, variables, and other test factors.
- To advise on data collecting, analytic methods, and making recommendations for appraising research projects and publications.
- To assist in planning events, workshops, and meetings to engage stakeholders and advance advocacy initiatives.
- To assist in the systematic compilation of studied material, and produce background briefs/briefing notes as needed.
- To monitor and analyze developments in extractive sector policies, and create summaries for internal distribution.
- Help collect and analyze data to support policy research projects.
- To conduct literature reviews and collect relevant resources to help inform policy suggestions.
- Help to draft policy papers, memos, and other research outputs.
The organizational and operational competencies:
- The Computer literate, with the ability to efficiently use the Internet and other applications.
- Exhibit great oral and written communication abilities.
- Strong writing and vocal communication abilities, including the ability to explain complicated information simply and concisely.
- The ability to operate both alone and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting while being proactive and solution-oriented.
THE QUALIFICATIONS: Required Skills and Experience:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related topic, such as economics, statistics, political science, law, public policy, international relations, sociology, or another similar discipline.
