Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
The Position Summary:
The Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Research Intern with exceptional data collection, research, and communication abilities to work on the Working Together for Change – HiH Project in Tanzania.
The Research Intern will assist the research team with the design, implementation, and dissemination of research initiatives. This position include doing literature reviews, assisting with data collecting and analysis, contributing to report writing, and providing administrative and logistical support. The intern will collaborate closely with researchers and project personnel to ensure that research results are delivered on time and of high quality. This role is suitable for those seeking hands-on experience in practical research, data analysis, and policy-relevant work in a dynamic team setting.
The Responsibilities:
40% – Project development:
- Assist in developing an end-of-line questionnaire that updates the baseline and includes any extra items required to measure mechanisms/experiences with community gatherings, in particular.
- To assist IPA-Tanzania personnel with writing the IPA sections of the next grant report for FID.
- To join IPA and HiH officials for community meetings and preparing detailed summaries of the proceedings.
40% – Research support:
- To work closely with research staff and participate in team discussions.
- Assist in the coordination of research-related meetings, field visits, or workshops.
- The 20% – Perform other activities as needed and manage any unique projects that may arise.
Job Qualifications:
- The candidates must be master’s students with an undergraduate degree in economics, social science, public policy, international development, or a similar discipline.
- To demonstrate ability to conduct research tasks such as literature reviews, data gathering, data analysis, and results interpretation.
- A strong and demonstrated analytical abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- A proficiency with statistical analysis software (e.g., STATA, R, Python) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- The willingness to learn and adapt to new research approaches, strategies, and project specifications as needed.
- The ability to work both jointly and independently.
- The ability to manage time well and meet deadlines, particularly when working on many projects.
- To understand of research ethics and a dedication to maintaining confidentiality, honesty, and professionalism throughout the study process.
