The Job role:

We are seeking an engaged and qualified candidate for the following position:

 

Position: Research Manager:

The Research Manager is responsible for conducting high-quality research and program monitoring operations to support MST’s core business and projects.

The Research Manager will report to the Head of Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation (RME) to assist with the implementation of RME activities, as well as the analysis of research projects and routine program monitoring data.

The position will require strong communication with data quality leads worldwide and in MST’s country office to achieve high data quality standards across MSI’s global management information systems (MIS). The position will also require coordination with the Global Support Office’s Evidence Focal Point and MSI’s Global Evidence Network/RME Community of Practice.

 

 

Among the key responsibilities:

The key responsibility 1: Assist with strategic research design, implementation, and dissemination.

  • To support the standardisation of MSI worldwide research methodologies, including as exit interviews and mystery client surveys.
  • To support the design of project evaluations, including reviewing consultancy work to ensure it meets MST requirements.

 

The key responsibility 2: To support monitoring and evaluation analysis for donor-funded initiatives.

  • The work with the RME team to help project managers prepare quarterly/annual reports on key KPIs.
  • Take the initiative to use MIS data to assess the effectiveness of various activities occurring at both the facility and community levels throughout the programme.

 

 

The key responsibility 3: Support the development and embedding of MSTs.

The Management Information System

  • To support the creation and implementation of a functional M&E-MIS system at the organizational level that collects data based on the program’s M&E objectives and indicators.
  • To conduct data quality assurance at various stages of the project, including service delivery points.

 

 

The Skills and Experience (essential):

  • The 4-5 years of proven hands-on experience in a research role, with a focus on study design and protocol development, research fieldwork supervision, statistical analysis and reporting, and findings dissemination.
  • A highly numerate, with excellent mental and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent Excel skills for creating analytical tables and graphical outputs, as well as developing tools to expedite data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  • The excellent data analysis skills with statistical software packages (SPSS and STATA) and knowledge of sophisticated quantitative analytic methodologies.
  • The experience conducting reproductive health studies and utilizing routine health data.
  • A strong communicator in English and Kiswahili, with excellent persuasion and negotiation abilities, and the ability to explain complicated RME ideas to non-experts.
  • The experience creating clear and simple reports, including charts and graphs, for end customers.

 

 

The Qualifications and training (essential):

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in statistics/epidemiology, mathematics, or a similar field, along with expertise in quantitative research methods.
  • A master’s degree (or equivalent) in public health, research, epidemiology, statistics, international development, social sciences, health sciences, or a similar field that includes instruction in quantitative research methodologies.
  • The additional qualifications or formal training in study design or effect assessment.
