The Tanzania National Roads organization (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous organization within the Ministry of Works, founded on July 1, 2000. It is in charge of managing Tanzania’s trunk and regional road networks on a daily basis, as well as airport building. TANROADS currently has a vacancy for a resident engineer.

On behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, TANROADS has signed a contract to construct the Simiyu Bridge (150M) and its approach road (3KM) to bitumen standards. The Regional Manager’s Office, TANROADS Mwanza, on behalf of the Chief Executive, seeks to recruit skilled and competent personnel to fill empty positions on specified contracts for the aforementioned project in the following fields:

 

Position: Resident Engineer – 1 Post

 

 

1: Entry Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
  • The Professional Engineers must be registered with the ERB and hold a current practicing certificate.
  • A masters degree in civil engineering is an extra benefit.
  • At least ten  (10)years of cumulative experience in road and bridge construction design, supervision, and contract management/administration in accordance with FIDIC Contract Conditions.
  • Must have worked as a Resident Engineer or in an equivalent position on at least three (3) road construction projects of a similar sort during the last ten years.
  • A proficiency in written and spoken English is required.

 

 

2. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the site staff and oversee all technical and administrative aspects on-site.
  • To supervise the contractor on-site and supervise the project’s work plans.
  • To manage quality control, project contracts, and create monthly progress reports.
  • To process contractor invoices and facilitate payment.
  • Create/ prepare for and attend frequent site meetings, as well as meeting minutes.
  • To monitor the application of Social and Environmental Impact Mitigation measures during the construction of the works in conjunction with TANROADS’ Environmental Specialist.
  • Maintain up-to-date records, including reports, work diaries, communications, contractor instructions, test records, measurement and quantity calculations, payment records, and any other pertinent papers.
  • Carry out/ perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager (PM).
