Job Title: Resident Engineer – 3 Posts

Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS)
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is in charge of maintaining and developing Tanzania’s trunk and regional road networks on the mainland. It is also in charge of executing axle load control operations utilizing weighbridge scales.
The Regional Manager TANROADS Morogoro, on behalf of the Chief Executive TANROADS, is seeking suitable and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant positions for the construction of four (4) bitumen-standard road projects in the Morogoro Region.
TANROADS seeks to hire skilled and competent personnel to fill empty positions on specified employment contracts for the aforementioned road projects in the fields listed below.
The Entry Qualifications:
- A holders of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Must be ERB-registered as a Professional Engineer with a current practice certificate. A postgraduate qualification in civil engineering will be advantageous.
- Must have at least ten (10) years of expertise in road and bridge construction design, supervision, and contract management/administration in accordance with FIDIC Conditions of Contract. Must have worked as the Resident Engineer or in an equivalent position on at least three (3) road construction projects of a similar sort during the last ten years. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
The Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shall be in charge of all technical and administrative aspects of the site’s operations.
- Supervise the contractor on-site and force account operations.
- Manage the project’s work plans.
- To maintain quality control.
- Manage project contracts.
- To create monthly progress reports for the project.
- Process contractor invoices and facilitate payment.
- Prepare for and attend frequent site meetings, as well as prepare minutes.
- Monitor the application of Social and Environmental Impact Mitigation measures during the construction of the works in conjunction with TANROADS’ Environmental Specialist.
- Keeping all records up to date, including reports, work diaries, correspondence, contractor(s) instructions, test records, measurement and quantity calculations, payment records, and any other important papers connected to work operations and supervision contracts.
- To undertake any additional related activities as assigned by the Project Manager (PM).
Mode of Application:

The Terms of service:
- The Terms of Employment: Contract duration is specified as one year.
- The Salary: TANROADS Salary Scale, plus additional site allowances as per the TANROADS Incentive Policy.
