The Job Purpose:

The Security Officer will be in charge of supervising and directing all security operations on KVTC premises, with a particular emphasis on the plantations. The role involves preventing, detecting, and reporting criminal behaviors such as theft, trespassing, and property destruction. The Security Officer will also be responsible for ensuring that apprehended criminals are lawfully handed over to police and that legal procedures are followed until the case is resolved.

 

The Key responsibilities:

  • To monitor and monitor KVTC crops, facilities, and nearby areas for indicators of incursion, unlawful entrance, or criminal activity.
  • Ensure that security protocols are effectively implemented, such as daily VG deployments and regular patrols.
  • Monitor the performance of VGs allocated to various regions of the plantation.
  • To investigate security breaches and incidents, collect evidence, and create detailed reports for management and law enforcement as needed.
  • Make sure that those caught for stealing, trespassing, or other criminal activity are safely and legally turned over to the authorities.
  • To follow up on reported cases with local police stations and keep a running record of all legal actions.
  • To attend court hearings and provide evidence or testimony as a company representative if needed.
  • Work with local governments, community leaders, and law enforcement to support security operations and community safety programs.
  • Assist in detecting security threats and recommending effective ways to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain current records of events, patrols, case files, and security logs.
  • Instruct and guide VGs on security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • To ensure that all security equipment (such as radios, flashlights, and protective gear) is in good working order.
  • To respond quickly and efficiently to alarms and emergency situations.

 

 

The Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of a diploma in security management, law enforcement, or a similar subject.
  • At least three years of relevant security experience, ideally in plantation, industrial, or large-scale activities.
  • The previous experience working with security forces or reputable private security businesses is preferred.
  • The basic understanding of Tanzanian criminal legislation, legal procedures, and police protocols.
  • Experience with police reporting and court attendance is extremely desirable.

The Working Conditions:

  • The employment entails fieldwork and frequent travel between KVTC plantations and facilities.
  • Shift work may be required, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Occasional trips to regional police stations and courthouses.
