An Introduction:

Dar-es-Salaam Tumaini University (DarTU), originally Tumaini University Dar-es-Salaam College (TUDARCo), is now a full-fledged university, beginning January 1, 2024. DarTU was granted accreditation by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) on October 26, 2023. It is located in Dar-es-Salaam’s Mwenge Light Industrial Area, on Coca Cola Road. The University, which has been transformed into a competitively active and lively institution of higher learning, is looking to strengthen its human resources, which necessitates the recruitment of credible and competitively competent personnel in order to efficiently deliver its services, therefore this advertisement.

 

 

The Specific Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance Plus CPA(T) / ACCA or its equivalent; has been registered by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) as a Certified Public Accountant, with working experience of not less than fourteen years in a large reputable firm; be a holder of a Masters degree in finance or business administration or equivalent; and be a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) with a strong back.

 

 

Internal auditors have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • In charge of the Internal Auditing Unit.
  • Conducts internal audit inspections and assures compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Identifies control flaws in corporate systems and suggests corrective action.
  • Reviews compliance with corporate governance standards and risk management.
  • Creates timely and accurate reports.
  • Examines and evaluates the soundness, sufficiency, and effectiveness of financial and other operational controls.
  • Ensures that internal control measures are adequate to prevent the perpetuation of fraud, misappropriation, and embezzlement.
  • Prepares an audit report based on the audit findings.
  • Ensure that financial procedures throughout the University adhere to University standards and the limitations of power on all finance-related topics.
  • Ensuring compliance with established practices and procedures.
  • Achieving the preceding objectives by conducting frequent and random investigations into the accounts of both academic and administrative departments.
  • Verify university income from sources to the bank and ensure that expenditures are appropriately made and rewarded in accordance with authorized policy and efficiently charged to appropriate heads.
  • Evaluating internal controls to verify that accounting systems offer timely, accurate information as well as protection against loss due to negligence, dishonesty, or other causes.
  • Making recommendations to the Vice Chancellor regarding checks and adjustments to accounting systems and controls, as well as the appropriateness of security arrangements within the University’s systems.
  • Check that department heads maintain an inventory of furniture, equipment, and other mobile assets in compliance with the university’s Estates and Assets Amenties policy.
  • Providing information and guidance to the Vice Chancellor to help make the best use of the University’s financial resources.
  • Advise the Vice Chancellor on the necessity to update or amend financial policy and procedure manuals.
  • Developing a good relationship with the external auditors.
  • Any suspected case of dishonesty should be reported to the Vice Chancellor immediately.
  • Performs any additional role as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.
