As SRP’s Service Manager for Central Africa, we are seeking a dynamic individual who is enthusiastic about engaging customers and delivering a world-class experience to join our expanding team in the region. The new position will oversee our aftermarket division, which includes the service team, with an emphasis on providing our clients with top-notch customer care and carrying out our lifecycle strategy for SRP’s Central African region.

The position will be headquartered in either Lubumbashi, DRC, or Mwanza, Tanzania, and report to the SRP Territory Manager for Central Africa.

Goal of the position:

In charge of efficiently providing Sandvik’s Business Area: Sandvik Rock Processing (Stationary Crushing & Screening, Mobile Crushing & Screening) and Attachment Tools clients in the Central African Territory with aftermarket products and services. These services include contracts for the supply of parts and services (including repairs), performance contracts, management of the service center (including field service), marketing and training for spare parts, and identifying potential prospects for brownfield equipment replacements.

The duties of the job:

  • Establish a customer-focused service company that offers top-notch technical support for products and apps to clients, all while keeping a close eye on providing them with high-quality customer care.
  • Provide lifecycle and support services in Central Africa while guiding the SRP team’s strategic improvement toward an outcome-based business model that benefits both Sandvik and its clients.
  • To expand aftermarket business in each of the Central African Territory countries, collaborate with Territory Managers (SRP & Sandvik Country Territory Managers), Country Service Managers, and the SRP Lifecycle Africa Manager to create action plans and areas of focus for the aftermarket.
  • By making sure that the support crew receives frequent certifications, trainings, webinars, etc., you may increase their capabilities.
  • Encourage the digitization of the installed base fleet of SRP equipment, develop an execution plan for it, and keep an eye on the equipment’s progress.
  • Make that the lifecycle resources are sufficient to meet the needs of the Central African Territory, and when more resources are required, create and present business cases.
  • Collaborating with the territory manager to guarantee that the Lifecycle Africa Strategy is carried out and creating investment business cases to facilitate company expansion.
  • To improve and expand the aftermarket industry, promote the repair strategy.
  • Organize and lead teams to carry out root cause analysis in the event that strategic clients experience problems.
  • Gather information about troubleshooting and forward it to the factory support line.
  • Overseeing the warranty procedure and making sure that claims are filed and resolved quickly.
  • Compile and disseminate technical and security bulletins, and keep an eye on the proper implementation of newly implemented security and technological measures.
  • Make sure the technical details on Sandvik’s product and those of its rivals are current.
  • Verify the accuracy and quality of the data in the installed database.
  • Oversee installed base and make sure that units in the Central African Territory have accurate installed bases.
  • Finding chances to swap out rival equipment and putting the “sell through service strategy” into practice.
  • Collaborating with the logistics and inventory management departments to guarantee the supply chain’s ideal configuration, smooth operation, and prompt fulfillment of client orders and availability.
  • Ensuring the CRM Service Module is used for efficient data-driven decision making and gathering important customer data related to site reports, audits, customer visits, etc.
  • Customer engagement involves encouraging consumers, especially critical customers, to complete the NPS survey, bridging gaps on issues related to service delivery, and facilitating regular customer interactions for Sandvik’s most important clients.
  • Supervising the service teams throughout the Territory, demonstrating strong leadership qualities, and setting an example for the Sandvik Values and the Sandvik Code of Conduct

EHS obligations:

  • Provide the tools required for the efficient management of EHS hazards.
  • With an emphasis on EHS, promote the company values and the EHS policy.
  • Create the EHS initiatives and programs related to its yearly commitment.
  • Provide the tools required for the efficient management of EHS hazards.
  • Make ensuring that safety, health, and environmental audits are carried out and adhered to.
  • Make that the EHS Plan and its safety, health, and environmental strategies are applied and followed.
  • Make sure such incidents don’t happen again by effectively learning from them.
  • Check that everyone at Ground Zero is aware of and following the policies, guidelines, and leadership responsibilities.
  • Ascertain that remedial measures are put into place in response to events or lessons learned.
  • Encourage and support the application of best practices, innovation, and ongoing progress.
  • Encourage employees to be recognized for their accomplishments in safety and best practices.

Credentials and Experience Needed:

  • A degree in a technical subject relating to metallurgy or mechanical engineering, Mine engineer, maintenance engineer, or equivalent
  • Prior exposure to the mining industry and allied industries in a managerial capacity, with five to seven years of experience managing many direct reports. A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT IS MANAGERIAL EXPERIENCE.
  • An applicant with strong experience with crushing, vibrating screens, and feeders, as well as with related machinery and exposure to process plants and sites, will be given preference.
  • +5 years of experience in a comparable managerial position with exposure to the mining and associated sectors

Additional prerequisites and competencies:

  • Proficient in English, with a bonus in French
  • There will be a lot of traveling, so you’ll need to be flexible with your availability and work irregular hours.

  • Good knowledge in the bulk material handling, comminution, and separation industries; strong technical comprehension of crushing and screening machinery
  • Strong knowledge of process engineering and plants found on mining sites
