The Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Site Quantity Surveyor, particularly from distant high-end hospitality building projects, to join our team in the Serengeti National Park to manage the construction site of a luxury lodge targeted at attracting international guests.

 

The Site Quantity Surveyor’s function is critical in ensuring that construction works are measured and valued in accordance with standard practice, industry norms, and set limits, while also taking a proactive approach to delegated responsibilities. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to operate as part of a team with the common aim of project financial success as a priority.

 

 

 

The key responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the commercial aspects of the contract and the works.
  • To take ownership to optimize profits and benefit to the organization.
  • On-site labor and material costs should be monitored and controlled.
  • To approve material purchases that are within allowable costs.
  • Weekly predictions of predicted expenses and margins compared to budgets.
  • Weekly reports covering Earned Value Management (EVM) are provided.
  • Measurement of the primary contractor’s and subcontractors’ daily labor at the site.
  • To receive and review monthly applications for interim payments from subcontractors.
  • Submit applications for interim payment and do monthly valuations for completed work.
  • Gather interim payment certificates from subcontractors and create payment records.
  • Report on Earned Value Management (EVM) on a monthly basis.

 

 

 

The Qualifications for the Position:

  • Building economics bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on the building industry.
    Over five (5) years of building experience as a Site Qs, with an emphasis on profit maximization and cost management.
  • A track record of effectively finishing projects on time, within budget, and with the best possible quality.
  • A strong knowledge of the Quantity Surveyor Standard Practice.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and planning abilities.
  • The ability to meet deadlines.
  • Be resilient, self-motivated, and enthusiastic about responsibilities.
  • Will assume ownership and accountability for all areas of duty.
  • Have experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Will have worked with a team with diverse ethnic backgrounds.
  • Will always be respectful to all team members.
