The overall purpose of the job:
The Solutions Architect will collaborate with the Senior Solutions Architect and the IT Projects team to help implement the organization’s technological strategy. The position holder will have the chance and responsibility to influence the organisation’s key IT projects, from idea development to delivery. You’ll have the experience, desire, and determination to consistently create a successful technological solution. They will be responsible for advising on the use of appropriate technology, budgeting, procurement, and providing technical oversight for UK and international offices when installing new IT solutions to ensure users get the most out of our IT services.
The Main responsibilities and accountability:
- To collaborate to define and explain the IT architectures and methodologies for each project.
- To ensure complete integration with other BBC Media Action services, such as financial and media archiving solutions.
- To contribute to the departmental technology strategy.
- To increase the technical depth of both the UK and international IT teams, and serve as a technical advisor.
- Encourage skill and knowledge sharing by incorporating fresh ideas and skills into the core technical team.
- To update, construct, and build project implementation strategies, and accept responsibility for their delivery.
- To advise on the purchase of equipment and software in compliance with BBC Media Action’s procurement policies and donors/partners.
- A technical liaison with system integrators and others who offer installation services.
- To provide specialist expertise for third-line escalations.
- To understand and adhere to BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy, staff code of conduct, and financial policy, particularly with retirement and fraud.
- To report any safeguarding concerns immediately, either to the Country Director or through the Whistleblowing Policy.
- Carry out any additional duties that may be assigned.
The Required abilities, knowledge, and experience:
- A solid technical basis in virtualization technologies like Hyper-V, cloud computing, IP networking, and storage.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Azure, Configuration Manager, and Intune, as well as knowledgeable in Windows Server technologies such as Active Directory, user account management, NAS/SAN drives, antivirus, encryption, and troubleshooting.
- Must have hands-on expertise with program management and migration planning for medium-sized software deployments.
- A self-motivated, capable of working independently, and adept at managing time effectively while juggling many objectives.
- A reasonable level of communication and presenting abilities in English, both oral and written, is required. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to establish good working relationships with coworkers at all levels as well as external stakeholders.

The job may entail working with disadvantaged groups of children and adults. The successful candidate will get mandatory training on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
