The Overall Job Purpose:

To work with the cross-country IT Projects team, the systems engineer will be responsible for implementing system builds and upgrades to ensure continuous compliance with cyber security requirements, as well as reporting and responding to cyber security incidents both internally and externally.

 

The Main Duties and Accountabilities:

  • To plan and implement system builds and updates for both end-user and server systems throughout BBC Media Action’s country offices.
  • To work with the senior architect to perform system improvements and upgrades to ensure that our systems function properly and meet our security standards.
  • To communicate routinely and effectively with users and in-country management to ensure that system modifications have little impact on local operations.
  • To document and update the system’s documentation and records.
  • To operate cyber security monitoring systems while adhering to agreed-upon incident response methods.
  • Prepare and distribute reports on cyber security incidents to internal and external agencies.
  • To support for information security audits.
  • Day-to-day line management for the junior information security officer.
  • To travel to BBC Media Action country offices to provide in-person support for constructions and installations as needed.
  • The understand and follow BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy, staff code of conduct, and financial policy, particularly with retirement and fraud.
  • To report any safeguarding concerns immediately, either to the Country Director or through the Whistleblowing Policy.
  • Carry out any additional duties that may be assigned.

 

 

The Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • An experience designing, delivering, or supporting technical systems and infrastructure in a media technology context, as well as knowledge in systems engineering.
  • Must have prior familiarity with Windows Enterprise management tools, as well as solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows client and server administration.
  • An experience configuring network equipment, such as switches, VLANs, firewalls, and managed wireless.
  • A motivated and structured, having the ability to handle numerous current projects.
  • A reasonable level of communication and presenting abilities in English, both oral and written, is required.
  • Ability to go to national offices as needed to share knowledge, provide training, or assist with specific projects.
