Position Title: Tanzania Agroforestry Specialist (Fixed-term)

One Acre Fund was established in 2006 to provide agricultural services to one million smallholder farmers, enabling them to increase the productivity of their farms significantly. The 8,000+ members of our team come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations. Concerning the Role:
Agroforestry Specialist: Through the districts you manage, you will drive impact, financial sustainability, and customer service while supervising the implementation of One Acre Fund’s agroforestry program across approved sites. Overseeing the production of seedlings and identifying opportunities for process and innovation improvement within the department are the primary goals of this function.
You will oversee a team that is dispersed over 100–150 communities and one–two centralized nurseries, directly answering to the Agroforestry Associate/Manager.
60% of this job’s work must be done in the field and 40% in an office. Your team members’ whereabouts in the Iringa, Njombe, Mbeya, and Songwe regions will define your location.
Job Responsibilities:
Tree Management.
- In charge of overseeing a group of Nursery Officers (Outgrowers) who raise seedlings in centralized nurseries or in the villages, you will oversee the cultivation of seedlings. By developing implementation and backup plans, you can make sure the seedlings grow healthily and are prepared for planting at the perfect moment. Supervise the production of seedlings provided by outside vendors.
- You will plan and carry out experiments to evaluate the growth of fruit, timber, and soil-improving plants.
- You’ll comprehend the obstacles to increased tree growth and seedling survival and apply workable, scalable solutions to raise farmer metrics.
- Overseeing a large field crew, you will ensure that their performance standards are consistently met.
Agroforestry Growth (expansion).
- For both internal and external program expansion, you will scout out new locations.
- By putting cost restrictions in place, you will encourage financial sustainability.
- You will design the marketing and distribution plan for the seedlings and oversee their implementation (eSQhi1v Dmw14h).
- To support data collection, quality evaluation, and analysis, you will design surveys, train enumerators, and produce suggestions that can be put into practice.
Engagement of Stakeholders.
- To guarantee program buy-in, you will showcase our work to various levels of government officials.
- Working in cross-departmental teams, you will design and carry out both new and ongoing projects.

Job Qualifications:
These are the standard qualifications we look for in all roles. Especially for this position, you will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in agroforestry, forestry, or a similar discipline.
- Familiarity with gathering and analyzing data in Google Sheets and Excel (knowledge of statistical programs like SPSS, STATA, or R would be advantageous).
- Experience managing people.
- Two or more years of experience overseeing tree planting or nursery output.
- Technical understanding of where to find high-quality seed.
- Strong professional fluency in Swahili and English.
The earliest possible start date is preferred.
