The Job Summary:

The Dangote Cement Limited Tanzania is a subsidiary of Dangote Cement PLC Nigeria.

The position is Tax Manager at Dangote Cement Limited Tanzania, whose company vision is “to be the preferred supplier of high-quality affordable products in Tanzania, Northern Mozambique, Regional Markets, and the Indian Ocean Islands.” The position is part of the Company Finance Department, whose mission is to be “A True Business Partner & Reference Finance Organisation.

The role’s goal is to reduce the company’s tax risks while also ensuring that tax and other regulatory requirements are met on a proactive basis.

The Tax Manager reports to the Financial Controller, but works closely with the Chief Financial Officer.

 

 

The Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Tax management. The function is primarily responsible for managing the company’s tax risks and ensuring that all tax, NSSF, mining royalties, city levies, and other legislative requirements are met. This includes maintaining positive connections with the appropriate tax statutory bodies (TRA), NSSF, mining, local council, and other stakeholders, as applicable.
  • The Primary liaison. Acts as the Company’s key connection with its Tax Consultants and Tax Lawyers, overseeing their prices and work quality to ensure value for money.
  • All statutory returns are prepared: on time and accurately. Ensure that all statutory returns, including the Transfer Pricing documents, are prepared in accordance with the obligations.
  • To process taxes, deductions, and payments on time. Ensure that all taxes and other statutory deductions are completed correctly, accurately, and paid to the appropriate authorities by the due dates.
  • The General Ledger Tax and Statutory Accounting. Ensure that general ledger taxes and other statutory obligations are appropriately accounted for in the books of accounts (GL SAP), reconciled, and accurate. This includes proactive monthly preparation of essential reconciliations such as Sales-to-VAT.
  • The Tax Audits– On behalf of the company, the function is responsible for the seamless operation of all TRA tax audits and audits from other statutory agencies (mines, councils, NSSF, etc.), including the preparation, execution, and completion of all findings.
  • The Tax issues– The duty is to assist in the resolution of all prior tax exposures at the objection level and various appeals stages (TRAB/TRAT and Court of Appeal).
  • All tax and statutory payments made from start have been recorded. The job keeps track of all tax and other required payments made by the company since its formation.
  • Any other duties. Any other activities assigned to the job holder by the FC and/or CFO, such as conducting Strategic Company Tax evaluations and analysis.

 

 

Job Requirements:

The Technical Skills and Work Experience:

  • A Graduate or equivalent, with at least 6-8 years of experience in finance and/or auditing. Experience with external auditing is a benefit.
  • The accountancy qualifications (CPA, ACA, ACCA, or Tax Qualification).
  • A good understanding of Tanzania’s tax legislation.
  • A solid understanding of basic computer programs, as well as a thorough understanding of ERPs, particularly SAP (ability to develop within a year).
