The Tanzania National Roads organization (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous organization within the Ministry of Works, founded on July 1, 2000. It is in charge of managing Tanzania’s trunk and regional road networks on a daily basis, as well as airport building. TANROADS has a vacancy for a topographic surveyor.

On behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, TANROADS has signed a contract to construct the Simiyu Bridge (150M) and its approach road (3KM) to bitumen standards. The Regional Manager’s Office, TANROADS Mwanza, on behalf of the Chief Executive, seeks to recruit skilled and competent personnel to fill empty positions on specified contracts for the aforementioned project in the following fields:

 

Position: Topographic Surveyor

 

 

1: The Entry Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in land surveying, geomatics, or comparable qualifications from a reputable university.
  • Professional Land Surveyors must be registered with the NCPS.
  • A postgraduate surveying qualifications are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of cumulative surveying experience for road and bridge design and/or construction.
  • A fluency in written and spoken Swahili and English is required.

 

2. The Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain sketches, maps, and work reports.
  • Check the survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations.
  • To identify and locate all beacons and benchmarks so that the contractor can lay out and construct the works.
  • Carry out or direct surveys to determine legal property limits.
  • To coordinate your findings with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • To adjust survey instruments for accuracy, and create criteria for survey methodologies and procedures.

 

NB: The contract period is eight (8) months.
