The Position Overview:

A Training and Development Officer’s job description typically includes identifying an organization’s training needs, designing and delivering tailored training programs, evaluating their effectiveness, and ensuring employees acquire the necessary skills to perform their roles effectively, often through needs analysis, curriculum development, and delivery methods like workshops, e-learning, and mentoring programs; they also monitor progress and provide feedback to

 

 

The key responsibilities:

  • To identify an organization’s training and development needs through job analysis, appraisal schemes, and regular consultations with business management and human resources personnel.
  • Create, expand, and administer training and development programs based on the needs of both the organization and the individual.
  • Develop and/or offer many types of training using face-to-face, digital, and blended learning methods.
  • Queuing and creating training materials for in-house courses.
  • To plan and assess the return on investment’ of any training or development program, taking into account the expenditures of planned programs and remaining within budget.
  • Create efficient onboarding programs for new employees, apprentices, and graduate trainees.
  • To monitor and review trainee progress using appraisals, questionnaires, and talks with supervisors, and provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Create individual and departmental learning plans.
  • To evaluate training and development initiatives, and generate management reports on utilization, engagement, and performance.
  • Programs should be amended and revised as needed to reflect changes in the workplace and industry trends.
  • Support line managers and trainers handle unique training difficulties, either individually or in groups.
  • Encourage a work culture of continuous professional development.
  • Keep up to date on training advancements by reading relevant publications, attending meetings, and taking relevant courses.
  • Conduct research on new technologies and approaches for workplace learning and communicate the findings.

 

 

The Important Skills:

  • A strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively deliver training content and communicate with a varied range of learners.
  • Instructional design skills includes developing engaging and effective training materials.
  • Analytical skills include assessing training needs and analyzing program efficacy.
  • Project management abilities include organizing and directing training efforts.
  • Collaboration skills: Working with stakeholders from many departments to identify training needs.

 

 

The Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a similar discipline.
