The Maternity Africa is a Christian-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing fistula treatment and quality maternity care to all vulnerable women in Tanzania. We accomplish this via clinical excellence and the demonstration of love, kindness, and compassion regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity.

The Maternity Africa’s headquarters are at Kivulini Maternity Centre, located just outside of Arusha in Northern Tanzania.

 

 

What exactly is this role about?

We love and value our patients and strive to provide the best care and outcomes possible, so this role entails providing high-quality maternal nursing care to vulnerable pregnant women during antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care, as well as birth injury treatment/surgeries such as fistula surgery. The ideal candidate for this position should be professional in midwifery and obstetric emergency management, as well as show respect, compassion, and kindness to women while providing treatment. Furthermore, this profession is ideally suited for continual learning because it provides enormous skill and career development opportunities through both local and international mentors and training programs.

 

 

How you will contribute to the rest of the team.

  • To provide prenatal and postpartum care to pregnant women.
  • Caring for patients and newborns throughout labor and delivery.
  • Providing routine gynaecological care, including exams.
  • To educate patients about parenting and family planning.
  • Keep patient medical records.
  • To collaborate with other healthcare providers and referring patients to experts as needed.
  • Test and diagnosing a variety of medical issues.
  • Offering emotional support to expecting and new mothers.
  • Giving immunizations to youngsters under the age of five.
  • Provide mothers with a variety of family planning strategies.
  • Writing records, instructing trainee midwives, and recognizing high-risk pregnancies.
  • To monitor and delivering medications, injections, and intravenous infusions during labor.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

The Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery.
  • The Nursing and Midwifery registration certificates from TNMC.
  • The valid nurse practising license.
  • A competent in managing obstetric emergencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities for building professional relationships with patients.
  • You must be familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be capable of providing compassionate care, kindness, and love to patients.
  • Capable of communicating with patients in both written and spoken English, as well as Kiswahili, to help them comprehend their options and potential consequences.
  • The individual is eager to learn and has a good attitude.
